How to Design a Professional Learning Community to Advance Informal STEM Learning For Black Girls
Jasmine is excited to announce the dissertation proposal defense for candidacy of a Doctorate in Education. This engaging research highlights: the problem of underrepresentation and attrition of Black girls in STEM, introduces the purpose of this study, research questions, research methods, and more. This participatory action research uses a qualitative explorative case study approach to gain insight into the perceptions of informal STEM educators and educational leaders on the professional learning they themselves need, when a) presented with research, b) led through focus group dialogue, and c) interviewed about how best to support their own work with Black girls.

Region 9 Head Start Association Early Childhood STEM Institute
What fun it is — learning how to teach young children about STEM. Adequate training of early education teachers in STEM concepts is essential to get a head start on STEM education. R9HSA’s Early Childhood STEM Institute is focused on bringing our community a fun and engaging experience to learn science principles in an interactive, hands-on approach, enabling Head Start education staff to teach about science principles appropriately and knowledgeably.
